The laboratory of Geodesy and Geodetic Applications was established in 1974 and was directed till 1998 by Prof. T. Papadimitriou.
The main focus of the Lab is excellence in education and research in the domain of Geodesy and of its applications in Civil Engineering.
The Lab has contributed so far in the theoretical and practical education of 6500+ undergraduate students (5-year studies program in Civil Engineering) and of 50+ post-graduate students, among them several doctoral students (three PhD's have been awarded).
Current research activities cover a broad spectrum of activities on various fields and applications of Geodesy/Surveying/Geomatics, Seismotectonics, Volcanology, Archaeology and Coastal Studies, including participation in various Greek and international projects.
Recently, much emphasis was given on applications of Geodesy in Structural and geotechnical Engineering. The outcome of this research is summarized in numerous publications, most of which are co-signed by post-graduate and under-graduate students, as outcomes of their theses.
